It is equipped with many modern luxuries, including dining areas, cable TV, DVD, stereo, comfy sofas, hammocks and plenty of outdoor relaxing areas, including table tennis, darts, board & card games, library and a beach volley ball court in front of the complex for the quite days. You can relax with a cold drink chill out and watch the waves roll in directly in front.

The Resort is nestled on 5 km of a clean white sand beach with 3 islands surrounded by coral reefs dotted in front. You can safely go swimming, beach combing or at night Turtle watching, or grab some snorkeling gear provided by the resort and catch a boat out to the pristine Islands of Mincau & Seflak for a day of fun. There are also some
excellent water falls to visit as well. You can also hire one of our motorbikes with board racks and explore the island yourself. Head into town and
choose from a number of internet cafes and Wi-Fi spots. There are plenty of things to see and do.
For further detailed information please see (Activities click here).

8. CAN I WITHDRAW MONEY ON THE ISLAND?
We operate the resort in local Indonesian rupiah currency and strongly recommend that you withdraw a sufficient amount of money from the ATMs in Medan to cover your costs, we suggest around 3 to 5 million Rupiah. There are no Credit Card facilities on the island and the only available ATM in town accepts MasterCard cards but not Visa cards unfortunately. However it is very unreliable with foreign cards.

YOU SHOULD NOT RELY ON THEM TO WITHDRAW CASH!

If necessary we will accept Australian & USD but are only able to change notes in good condition and in large denominations.

9. HOW MANY & WHAT SIZE BOARDS SHOULD I BRING?
This is a bit of a personal choice as air freight prices for boards can be expensive 2 boards for 20kg cost around US$ 100.00 return with 3 to 4 boards up to 40kg will cost $ 200 return. You will most likely surf on your standard short board the majority of your trip, however when the swell gets a little bigger you'll be glad to have your bigger board ready to go. It is not uncommon to snap and damage boards while you're here so come prepared. We have the necessary equipment and resins to repair minor board dings. Click for more information.

10. SHOULD I BE CONCERNED ABOUT MALARIA?
Since the Tsunami in 2005 the NGO’s removed all the slum areas around the town of Sinabang and installed
proper drainage, coupled with a fogging program to eradicate the malaria carrying mosquito, since then the threat
of malaria was reduced to extremely little. Our Resort is located 20 km from town and in 9 years living here we
have never had a single case of malaria or dengue fever, it is there for a matter of personal choice whether to
take anti- malarial medication or bring it with you just in case.
We know mosquitoes are annoying and can transmit deadly diseases just be sensible, early morning, afternoon
and evening when they are most active put a repellent on. We have insect spray available on request to give
your room a spray, there is also an electric insect atomizer in each room, please remember to keep the screen
door closed.

11. HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE AT THE RESORT?
Moon Beach Surf Resort holds a maximum of 12 guests, and although that may seem like a crowd, we are
fortunate enough on the west coast of the Island to have waves both North and South of us to suit all level
of surfer and to keep the numbers down. Plus if you really want to avoid the crowds our surf guides can
accompany you to little known location where you can have the waves to yourself.

12. ARE THERE ANY DRESS RESTRICTIONS?
Yes, Simeulue people though very friendly maintain their strong Muslim beliefs. Therefore Men & Women are
respectfully asked to dress moderately when outside the resort grounds, Men are expected to wear a shirt
and footwear, Women a long skirt or trousers and something to cover their shoulders, and this unfortunately
means no bikini, tank tops or topless sun baking.
Swimming, we recommend men wear Speedos with long board shorts over the top & women either a one
piece swimsuit with long tights or long board shorts with a rash vest.
We can however arrange boat trips to secluded islands where dress is not an issue. We are sure that with
a little common sense and respect for the culture you are in there will be absolutely no issues. If you have
any questions on this please just ask.

13. WHAT ARE THE EVACUATION PLANS IN CASE OF A TSUNAMI?
The Resort is within a short walking distance from the nearby hills with a marked access road leading to
higher ground close by. There are sirens in the nearby mosques and warnings are issued on all local TV programs.

14. WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO PACK?
With the checking baggage weight of 10kg it’s best to travel light. You’ll probably find you spend most of
your time in the same pair of board shorts and t-shirts and hopefully you will be spending most of your time
in the water. Plus we have a laundry service to assist with washing the essentials. We have prepared a list
of items to help get you on your way.
